South Oceanview Neighborhood Association

Thursday October 16 meeting: (1813 7th St)

6:45 Socialize; 7:15 Business Meeting

DRAFT AGENDA

Coming soon:

This party’s for you! Come picnic and meet neighbors at the Harvest Social to be held at James Kenney Park on Saturday, October 18, noon - 5:00 pm. See separate flyer for more information. We’ll be ironing out last minute details at SONA’s October 16 meeting. Those who have volunteered to help should come to this meeting.

Traffic: Ongoing concerns about traffic in our neighborhood are getting attention. A group of SONA members has begun meeting to outline problems and potential solutions to traffic congestion and reckless driving on our residential streets. Also, the City has begun a study of traffic associated with the continued expansion of 4th Street development. You may have noticed car counters in the streets. We’re strongly urging that this study consider impacts to our neighborhood too. We’ve also expressed concern that the addition of left turn signals on University Avenue and San Pablo Avenue last year have pushed more traffic onto our streets.

Berkeley Barter Network: Some folks are trying to set up an exchange system within our neighborhood for skills, services, resources, or group activities we could share with, provide for or teach each other. Examples include food, clothing, repairs, recreation, arts & crafts, education, health, recreation, transportation, tools, books, garden space, etc. For information, call Zan Turner at 841-7713 or Lawrence Schechtman at 527-6688.

Other upcoming events:

City Councilwoman Linda Maio meets with West Berkeley residents at James Kenney Park Recreation Center on Wednesday, October 22, 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Bring your concerns directly to this meeting and/or to SONA’s October 16 meeting.

James Kenney Neighborhood Watch meets regularly on the 2nd Thursday of each month 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the James Kenney Park Recreation Center. The next meetings are October 9 and November 13.
