Traffic congestion and reckless drivers in and around the neighborhood getting you down?
Come to SONA's next meeting and join in the discussion about what can be done about it. Traffic signage, speed bumps, and additional barriers are some of the ideas put forth already. Bring your creative solutions to this very important discussion.

SONA would like to help foster the re-creation of a merchants association along San Pablo Ave. in West Berkeley in order to improve cohesiveness and create better links between the residents and merchants in our community. The specific proposal on accomplishing this task will be discussed in fuller detail.

Tuesday, August 5: Neighborhood Night Out
This is a nation wide event where neighborhood folks walk the streets of their neighborhoods as a show of neighborhood unity. Oceanview's Night Out will be sponsored by the James Kenney Park Neighborhood Watch. Meet at 891 Virginia Street at 7:00 p.m. Lasts until 10:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served and one of the local Beat Cops will be present to answer questions about crime and safety in the neighborhood.
Saturday, October 18: Harvest Social
While still quite a ways off, we wanted to let people know about this great event far enough in advance to consider volunteering their time and talents. We've reserved the James Kenney Park picnic and baseball areas from 12-5. Food and drinks will be provided and any pot-luck additions are very welcome. Many of the supplies needed are being donated by local merchants, but some money will still need to be raised. We hope SONA members can donate $5.00, $10.00, or more. Copies of receipts and accounts will be available upon request. Volunteers will be needed to help set up, supervise and clean up. There will be games for children, story-telling and music.
Any musicians out there? Jugglers? Local talent welcome! Anyone interested in helping out, please call Rachel at 841-9524 or Mike at 848-9081. A presentation on the Social will be made at the next meeting.

West Berkeley Farmer's Market - Comments? How is it doing so far and how does it compare to Berkeley's other two farmer's markets?
James Kenney Neighborhood Watch - Meets regularly on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. at the James Kenney Park Recreation Center. The next meetings are August 13th and September 10.
